DATE EMPLOYMENT STARTED:
This is the date the employee began participation in the pension plan. It is usually the date the employee started employment. However, some companies can require a waiting period of one or two years or allow the employee to start participation at the employee's discretion. The Present Value of the monthly benefit the pensionholder (employee) will receive is very sensitive to this date because it effects and determines the following:

• The amount of monthly benefit the pensionholder will receive.
• The portion of the monthly benefit earned during the marriage.
